At Piano Moving Artists, we believe that music has the power to change lives — to inspire creativity, bring families together, and open doors for the next generation of artists. Every week, we see countless pianos being offered for free — beautiful instruments that still have years of music left in them. Yet, for many families, the cost of simply moving a piano is out of reach.
That’s why we’re proud to introduce our “Gift of Music Program” — offering free piano moving services to low-income families with children who want to learn to play piano but can’t afford the move.
Our Mission
Music should never be a privilege — it should be a gift that every child can experience. Through this program, we aim to connect free or donated pianos with families who can give them a new life in a loving home.
We know that somewhere out there, a young person has the passion and talent to play, but simply needs access to an instrument. We want to help make that dream possible.
How It Works
If you’ve found a free piano or been offered one, but can’t afford to move it, Piano Moving Artists will handle the move completely free of charge, under the following conditions:
- Distance: Must be within a 20-mile radius of our service area.
- Access: First floor to first floor only (no stairs or complex obstacles).
- Scheduling: Families must be flexible with pickup and delivery times.
- Special Circumstances: If the move involves additional challenges (stairs, long carries, or special equipment), these can be discussed separately.
We handle each case personally, ensuring both the piano donor and the receiving family are treated with care and respect. Make sure you prepare your home for the piano move.
Proof of Eligibility
To qualify, families simply need to provide a recent letter from DSHS (Department of Social and Health Services) showing their current address. This helps us verify eligibility and ensure the piano goes to a family truly in need.
